The painting...

A 'vision for a million children' & the painting from Shanghai...

Back during Care for Children's early days, when we were running the pilot project in Shanghai, Sir Richard Branson was personally involved.

During one of his visits to the Shanghai project, a young boy from the orphanage presented Sir Richard with a painting of him and Mr. Glover surrounded by children. The painting was completed entirely from the boys own imagination and initiative.

It is an unusual painting, because children appear to be transforming out of stars, and flying down from the sky to surround Sir Richard and Mr. Glover. But the image gripped Mr. Glover immediately. Many years prior to launching Care for Children, someone told him that he would become 'father to as many children as there are stars in the sky'. At the time it made no sense, but amazingly, this picture seemed to confirm that Mr. Glover was indeed destined to be a 'father to as many children as there are stars in the sky'...

It was an overwheling vision at the time, but as each year passes, this painting takes on more relevance as all of us at Care for Children trive to see our 'Vision for a Million children' become a reality.

The painting now hangs in Mr Glover's office at 'The Centre' in Beijing, China.
