The Care for Children School

As the only special needs school for expatriate children in Beijing we offer educational programmes specifically tailored to meet the needs of children with learning differences. We embrace not only cultural diversity but also academic diversity and believe that with openness to individuality, each child can grow and reach his or her potential. The Care for Children School provides a high quality, highly individualized, multidisciplinary curriculum to expatriate children with special educational needs.

School Programmes

The school offers the following programmes:

  • Autism Class for students aged 7 years and older.
  • The SLD Program is a full day class for students from 13 years and up with significant learning difficulties.

  • Dual Programme/ Advocacy Service for children with behavioural/social-emotional problems who are struggling to secure a place within a mainstream international school in Beijing, or who require additional individual support in order to remain in their current school. This is tailored to each child

Care for Children Family Services Clinic (FSC)

The Family Services Clinic is the first of it's kind in  Beijing. Our aim is to provide families with a support system if there is a concern in any of the following areas: behaviour, cognition, social/emotional, learning or physical.

From the serious need for specialised support and therapeutic services comes the opening of our fully equipped and onsite clinical facility as of January 2009!!
At the FSC our team of professionals will can assist families with our range of services; specifically tailored by our trained Western professionals.

At our Clinic we have:
  • A Psychologist and Behaviour Specialist
  • A physiotherapist
  • A speech and language therapist
  • An occupational therapist
  • Certified Social Worker and Family Counsellor
  • Clinical Psychologist specifically forcused on Early Intervention
  • Support Groups for EXPAT adolescents
  • Early Intervention Play Group

What makes us unique is that all surplus funding generated by the clinic is directed back into the Care for Children Foster Care Project, ensuring that China reaps the long term benefit of our special needs provision in Beijing. In addition, the therapists on staff offer facilitated training from our Centre to orphanage workers and local foster carers all around China - training and facilitating development in their field of expertise.
