We are thrilled to share some exciting news from Care for Children. Our recent screenings of the ‘Children of Shanghai’ documentary in Singapore and Hong Kong have been nothing short of remarkable, strengthening our mission and expanding our reach in the region.

Singapore: Beyond Expectations

Care for Children’s team travelled to Singapore to attend two screening events on the 9th and 11th of September 2023, invited and hosted by St. John St. Margerite Church and Dulwich College (Singapore). The screenings exceeded all expectations and have opened up exciting new opportunities for us. The response was overwhelmingly positive. As a result, Care for Children has been generously offered free office space in Singapore and potential funding to support our work in the region.

Through the two screening events in Singapore, we were able to connect with some key figures from the Singaporean government who highly commended Care for Children’s work. In conjunction with the screenings, we held our first-ever Care for Children Singapore board meeting. This historic event brought together passionate individuals dedicated to our cause. This marks a milestone in our journey to create a brighter future for orphans and vulnerable children in the region.

Care for Children’s team also had the privilege of holding two book signings at both events in Singapore. These book signings provided a unique opportunity for our local supporters to meet Care for Children’s Founder, Robert Glover, and receive a personalised copy of ‘As Many as The Stars’.

Hong Kong: Renewing Our Presence

The following Hong Kong screening of ‘Children of Shanghai’ on 15th September was also a resounding success, serving as a meaningful opportunity to refresh our presence in this important region. In partnership with HSBC, we hosted both a networking event and a screening at HSBC headquarters. Care for Children’s Hong Kong board director, David Liao, also representing HSBC, passionately endorsed our work during his opening and closing remarks.

We were excited to see familiar faces and connect with supporters who have been with us on this journey. The Hong Kong screening allowed us to rekindle our partnerships and strengthen our resolve to continue making a difference in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children. It's a reminder that our mission is ongoing, and with the support of our dedicated community, we can achieve great things.

New Contacts Made!

In total, these screenings have resulted in several hundred new contacts being made. This incredible response demonstrates the power of storytelling and the impact that caring individuals like you can have when you come together to support our cause. These new connections will enable us to reach even more children and provide them with the love, care, and opportunities to reach their full potential.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who attended the events and shared their thoughts, as well as our local partners and hosts who worked tirelessly to achieve such success.
