Project Overview
Care for Children initiated a strategic partnership with the Vietnamese government in 2018 after co-hosting a family placement conference in Hanoi in 2014.
Why we work in Vietnam
In Vietnam, there are an estimated 22,000 children living in government Social Protection Centres (SPCs), or orphanages, as well as 11,000 children within privately run institutions. Over half of these children have disabilities.
What we do
Care for Children is working in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs during an initial pilot project stage. As part of this pilot stage, Care for Children's team in Vietnam will support one SPC to develop a family placement programme. Through specialised training and support, this project will equip all relevant personnel with the necessary knowledge and skills to establish and manage a successful community-based family placement programme.
