Triumphant Return to the Royal Norfolk Show
1 July 2013

The purpose of our presence was to both generate more awareness of our Norwich office in order to garner better local support, as well as help encourage local companies to consider business opportunities in Asia (that may in turn benefit us!).

We did this by firstly inviting the China Britain Business Council (CBBC) to share our tent. Our relationship with CBBC goes back many years, and their current Chairman, Sir David Brewer, is also a previous Chairman and Trustee of Care for Children.

We were honoured to have HRH Prince Michael of Kent attend the show in order to promote Care for Children. During his visit he tried some Chinese tea made in the traditional manner by Care for Children's Chinese volunteers from the University of East Anglia, Viki, Cealyn and Key.

Shortly after visiting our tent, he delivered a keynote speech at a China-Britain networking event jointly organised by:

  • Care for Children
  • China Britain Business Council
  • Norfolk Chamber of Commerce
  • Norfolk County Council
  • Anglia Farmers (host)

Prince Michael commented on the dynamic and pioneering spirit of the charity that has helped place 250,000 orphans into families in China since 1998, and which can also organise unique business networking events to generate more synergy between the UK and Asia. He added:

“It doesn't matter if charity or business leads the way in building relationships with countries in Asia, as both can open doors for the other.”

Care for Children received good local press both before and after the event, predominantly from the Eastern Daily Press (below) and BBC Radio Norfolk:

  1. Report prior to the Royal Norfolk Show
  2. Report on Care for Children and HRH Prince Michael of Kent at the show
  3. Report on the China-Britain business networking event
